LIMITED AVAILABILITY FOR CLASSES DURING THE DAY TIME. If you are looking for private lessons during the day, I currently have some availability but these are likely to fill up quickly.

I have always offered private lessons to home educated children, but I am now going into my fifth year of delivering online Zoom group sessions working with a group called HEET. I am also delighted to say that I will be starting KS3 lessons with the £2 Tuition Hub in September. Please register with HEET to book a class (see details below) and or to find out more information. https://www.heet.org.uk/ or https://www.facebook.com/heet.org

My 10-year-old son has been learning French with Angela since the age of 7. My son has thoroughly enjoyed the lessons which have been fun, immersive and very creative. He has never been to France but has developed a strong interest in the language and its culture. We would highly recommend Angela and we look forward to many more years of language learning experience. Eman Hatim, Summer 2024

We have been doing French with Angela for 2 years now and my kids love her, apparently "it's not learning mummy, it's fun!" Very reasonably priced! Georgina Hounslow, Summer 2023

Angela is a super teacher. My 6yr old can’t wait for his online lessons and is totally absorbed the whole time. She pitches the lessons at just the right level of challenge and finds creative ways to keep the repetition that’s needed novel and fun. I’m so happy to see teaching that’s inspiring and motivating. We are lucky to have found her. Gillian Hammond, Summer 2023

Beginners Fun French for Children – 45-minute class. (KS2) (Approx. Age 7-11)

Children enjoy learning languages and the younger they start the better.  At a young age, children are very receptive to new sounds and are less inhibited in their language learning.  My online classes include lots of stories, action chants, songs and games so the children learn whilst playing. Please contact me for details of the topics covered in each year and or for more information.

Intermediate French – 1-hour class. (KS3) (Approx. Age 10-14)

Children continue to learn French in a fun way – role play, rhymes and a wide variety of different games but these classes will also pave the way towards GCSE if required at a later date and will include more written work and focus on grammar. There is a Year 1 and a Year 2 class. Please contact me for details of the topics covered in each year.

GCSE Prep French – 1-hour class. (KS4) (Approx. Age 14-17)

This is a 2-year course to fully prepare students for the IGCSE exam covering all 4 skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.  Whilst still incorporating an element of fun, the emphasis is more on the IGCSE syllabus and exam technique and will require a fair amount of homework and additional studies. Students will have already done KS3 French before starting this course. In September, a new Year 1 course will start as well as the 2nd year of the 2 year course. The 2nd year class will be 1 hour 30 minutes to allow lots of exam practice time. Please contact me for details of the topics covered in each year.

PRIVATE LESSONS

My fun French for children lessons also work well for home schooled online.  When they are ready they then have the option of taking the IGCSE exam.  I can take students from total beginner right through to the IGCSE exam.  The length of time taken will vary according to the child, the regularity of lessons and the pace.

Lessons can be tailored to your needs but are child led and with an emphasis on fun.  The emphasis does shift slightly when working towards the GCSE exam but still remains fun.

I want to thank you so very much for all the resources, tips and advice. My two papers went better than I could ever imagine. And I believe this is largely down to your help and patience.  Thank you so very much.  Josh Braithwaite, IGCSE student, June 2022

Overall, I'm feeling really happy about how it went. I'm really hoping for a grade 9, but I'd still be pleased with a grade 8. Thank you for teaching me these last couple of years. I remember the first lesson I had with you, where I couldn't even speak about basic things, like my pets or my house. I feel so much more confident in my French, and have enjoyed your lessons thoroughly throughout the year! I find your lessons are engaging and the constant repetition of the tenses and speaking elements really helped me improve. You were also always so quick in marking and responding to homework and extras, so thank you so much for your constant support.I'm really going to miss your lessons!  Rowan Barton-Dibble, IGCSE student, June 2022

Angela is absolutely fantastic. She has made lessons really fun and my daughter has learnt so much. She has gone from knowing a few French words to being able to form short sentences over the course of the year. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed these lessons and looks forward to them every week.

The format of the lessons are perfect. There are mixture of games, songs and activities that keep the children engaged and learning. Angela has managed extremely well to deliver these lessons online. It works extremely well.  Nadine George, HEET parent, May 2021

Absolutely delighted with Angela who has guided my two oldest home-educated girls over the last 5 years through their IGCSEs from scratch!  They both went from knowing no French to obtaining A* in their papers.  Angela is patient and calm and keeps lessons interesting.  I felt very confident that she prepared them well.  My youngest is currently studying French with her and enjoying it.  Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2018

Angela teaches my three children (3, 5, 7) at our home in Boroughbridge, near Harrogate.  Her classes are fun and interactive with plenty of songs, games and movement and she also works on ‘drill’ style learning for numbers, months of the year etc (set to music). My son has commented that he knows French numbers better than English numbers! We home educate and I really value Angela’s input into our language learning as my French is more than a little rusty. This is such a great age to be teaching a foreign language to children. I’m amazed by how much they are learning. Cari Crossley, Summer 2018

I can recommend Angela very highly. My three children have worked with her for about 5 years now and they have learnt a great deal from her. She prepared my 16 year old for her IGCSE French exams this year and she got an A*! So we are very pleased with that result. Angela is patient and engaging and she was very thorough in preparing my eldest. My next two will definitely continue working with her.  Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2016

My children aged 14, 12 and 6 have been learning French with Angela for a number of years in our home and then over Skype when we moved away. They have learnt a lot and enjoyed the lessons. The older two are now being prepared for their IGCSE French exams and are progressing well with her. Angela has done a great job keeping the kids engaged in the lessons.    Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2014
