I just wanted to let you know that Jack is really loving his French lessons, it’s his favourite lesson of the week. He does a hands-on science lesson with chemicals and stuff, an engineering lesson using Lego and trampolining and he says he enjoys French the most!
I do Maths with him every morning and sometimes he gives me his answers in French! He’s also been doing Duolingo to back up what you’ve been teaching him.
Thank you so much! Abby McCaffery, October 2024
My daughter is currently doing IGCSE French with Angela. She’s gone from being nervous/shy in replying to questions in French to feeling confident in trying this year within the class. My younger child has learnt French for two years with Angela for KS2 and KS3. Lessons have had a good pace with varied activities and games that have kept him engaged, which is sometimes tricky for him in online lessons. Lisa Smith, Summer 2024
My 10-year-old son has been learning French with Angela since the age of 7. My son has thoroughly enjoyed the lessons which have been fun, immersive and very creative. He has never been to France but has developed a strong interest in the language and its culture. We would highly recommend Angela and we look forward to many more years of language learning experience. Eman Hatim, Summer 2024
Just letting you know that I think my exam went really well. I completed everything. Thank you so much for teaching me these past three years, I have really enjoyed your wonderful lessons. Ellis Sebbage, GCSE Student, May 2024
We have been doing French with Angela for 2 years now and my kids love her, apparently "it's not learning mummy, it's fun!" Very reasonably priced! Georgina Hounslow, Summer 2023
Raqeeb is very surprised and delighted to get a grade 7 in his GCSE. Thank you so much for getting him along from a predicted 5 to a 7 since he only started French in Year 9!! Can’t thank you enough. Azhara Miller, Summer 2023
Angela is a super teacher. My 6yr old can’t wait for his online lessons and is totally absorbed the whole time. She pitches the lessons at just the right level of challenge and finds creative ways to keep the repetition that’s needed novel and fun. I’m so happy to see teaching that’s inspiring and motivating. We are lucky to have found her. Gillian Hammond, Summer 2023
Our son started lessons with Angela before covid when he was 3 years old at the local play gym. Unfortunately, Covid got in the way of them so we immediately started them online. Both my daughter and son do lessons with Angela once a week and it continues to amaze me with the knowledge that she has instilled in them both. We recently visited France and my daughter, now 11, was listening to people behind us in a queue and relaying some of what they were saying. Angela’s lessons are fun and our children have learnt so much. She manages to deliver the online lessons to an incredible standard. Thank you, Angela, we can't wait for next term. Katie Govind, Summer 2023
Thank you for the great term! I love French lessons, they’re so fun! I can’t wait to see you all again in September! HEET KS2/3 student, Summer 2023
Angela tutored my son, both in group lessons with HEET and 1:1 in the run up to the IGCSE exam. She built a good relationship with him and he said the 1:1 really helped to clarify parts of the syllabus he had been confused with and with practicing for the speaking element which he found particularly challenging. She provided plenty of homework to help consolidate his learning, ensured he had covered all the topics and was well prepared for the exam. He achieved a grade 9 which he is really pleased about. Parent of GCSE student, Summer 2022 (Name withheld at their request)
I want to thank you so very much for all the resources, tips and advice. My two papers went better than I could ever imagine. And I believe this is largely down to your help and patience. Thank you so very much. Josh Braithwaite, IGCSE student, June 2022
Overall, I'm feeling really happy about how it went. I'm really hoping for a grade 9, but I'd still be pleased with a grade 8. Thank you for teaching me these last couple of years. I remember the first lesson I had with you, where I couldn't even speak about basic things, like my pets or my house. I feel so much more confident in my French, and have enjoyed your lessons thoroughly throughout the year! I find your lessons are engaging and the constant repetition of the tenses and speaking elements really helped me improve. You were also always so quick in marking and responding to homework and extras, so thank you so much for your constant support. I'm really going to miss your lessons! Rowan Barton-Dibble, IGCSE student, June 2022. Amended to add that Rowan achieved a grade 9.
Angela is absolutely fantastic. She has made lessons really fun and my daughter has learnt so much. She has gone from knowing a few French words to being able to form short sentences over the course of the year. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed these lessons and looks forward to them every week. The format of the lessons are perfect. There are mixture of games, songs and activities that keep the children engaged and learning. Angela has managed extremely well to deliver these lessons online. It works extremely well. Nadine George, HEET parent, May 2021
Our daughter was lucky enough to be taught by Angela from 3 years old in her nursery setting, she spoke about her lessons with great enthusiasm so when she moved onto school, we contacted Angela to continue with after school lessons and our daughter progressed very well. When, unfortunately the pandemic hit, Angela moved very quickly online and our daughter continued her weekly lessons with very little disruption. These online lessons are still to the high and very fun standard we grew to love from Angela. Our daughter still comes away from her lessons with great enthusiasm and now at 8 years old is becoming very confident in French. Thank you, Angela, we look forward to many more years of fun and learning. Emma Lockwood, January 2021.
I just wanted to let you know how much Toby loves your classes at nursery. He talks about them all the time and is always practicing around the house; we’re amazed at how much he knows- thank you so much!! Katie Smirthwaite, February 2020
My son started French with Angela at nursery, then once he started school, he attended the Kidzplay classes and this summer attended one of the 3 hour summer workshops too. The sessions are always fun and interactive with songs, games, cutting & sticking etc. so I don't think he realises he is learning and always enjoys the sessions. The French is definitely being absorbed though as he has quite a big vocabulary already and it's lovely to hear him singing French songs at home. Jo Davies Autumn 2019
Angela has taught French to my 5 and 6 year old daughters for the past school year. They both very much enjoy attending the weekly sessions at Kidzplay. The lessons are interactive and fun, with lots of variety in each session from sampling French foods, arts and crafts and singing.
In order for them to retain the knowledge they had learnt in the year, we signed them up to the summer workshops which are 3-hour sessions. They proudly finished the workshops in good spirits, having made new friends, armed with posters they had made about France and certificates!
They are both very happy to be joining the weekly classes again from September. Rebecca Honeybunn Summer 2019
As a mature adult, I decided to revive my French speaking skills by going back to French through 1 to 1 tuition. I approached first tutors and found Angela.
As soon as I made contact with Angela, I found her accommodating and helpful. Even though we had not met, I warmed towards her because she seemed to be putting my needs and wishes first, rather than her own. This I found particularly encouraging at my age and given my circumstances.
Angela is a lovely person to do French with. I thoroughly enjoy my weekly sessions with her. The sessions are varied and interesting. We do lots of conversion regarding everyday topics or things I have done in the week. . We also do grammar points relevant to me, with lots of fun exercises to make sure I have fully understood the key point being taught. She always prepares her sessions fully and appropriately. Homework is given, but there is no pressure to do it.
Angela is a steady, patient and encouraging tutor. She has been very encouraging and I feel I have made good progress since I have been having 1 to1 sessions with her. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn French. Michelle Waldron, Summer 2019
Angela has provided William with structured support and positive feedback which always encouraged him to try hard. She is reliable and has inspired my son to work hard in his recent GCSE. The advice and targeted work has helped my son to do well with his French. I have no hesitancy in recommending her highly and thank her profusely for her patience and commitment. Katie McGoohan, Autumn 2018
Thank you very much for the amazing French workshops you organised at Kidzplay. The boys absolutely loved every minute of it. They come out with "random" French words. Thank you for making French fun for them. They are really looking forward to the French classes this autumn. Merci beaucoup. Diana Bishop, Summer 2018
Absolutely delighted with Angela who has guided my two oldest home-educated girls over the last 5 years through their IGCSEs from scratch! They both went from knowing no French to obtaining A* in their papers. Angela is patient and calm and keeps lessons interesting. I felt very confident that she prepared them well. My youngest is currently studying French with her and enjoying it. Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2018
Angela teaches my three children (3, 5, 7) at our home in Boroughbridge, near Harrogate. Her classes are fun and interactive with plenty of songs, games and movement and she also works on "drill" style learning for numbers, months of the year etc (set to music). My son has commented that he knows French numbers better than English numbers! We home educate and I really value Angela's input into our language learning as my French is more than a little rusty. This is such a great age to be teaching a foreign language to children. I'm amazed by how much they are learning. Cari Crossley, Summer 2018.
At first, I was unsure how much Logan would take in but he comes home every week eager to share what he's learnt.
Khushi used to be quite shy but since starting French lessons she has become much more confident.
Already knowing a bit of French, it's nice being able to join in with Romilly on an evening when she tells me what she has learnt.
Above comments from 3 parents from Busy Bees Kindercare Hornbeam Park Nursery, Summer 2018.
From observing Angela and the children from the start in September to now, I am deeply impressed with how much they have learnt and how much they enjoy the sessions. Alex Head, Room Manager, Busy Bees Kindercare Hornbeam Park Nursery, Summer 2018.
Angela has taught my children since they were 3 and 6 years old and I have seen a noticeable improvement in both their French vocabulary and their enjoyment of learning the language. Angela's lessons for young children are fun, varied and tailored to meet the children's needs. The young children learn through playing games, singing and activities based on fun and engaging themes. She has a friendly, patient and encouraging manner and I highly recommend Angela as a French tutor. Amy Lund, Spring 2018
I cannot thank Angela enough for introducing French to my 2.5 year old boy in a fun and engaging way. Roderick is so proud of the French that he has learned (numbers, colours, fruits, greetings etc).
Angela's classes have also really helped him with his concentration and confidence in groups. Brilliant. Hattie, Autumn 2017
I can recommend Angela very highly. My three children have worked with her for about 5 years now and they have learnt a great deal from her. She prepared my 16 year old for her IGCSE French exams this year and she got an A*! So we are very pleased with that result. Angela is patient and engaging and she was very thorough in preparing my eldest. My next two will definitely continue working with her. Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2016
Angela has enabled my son to focus productively on his French and am sure has increased his grade. She has provided a realistic idea of the exam time tabling and structure. This has helped facilitate best use of the available time. She is extremely thorough, reliable, patient and effective and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. Both my son and I can not thank her enough. My son achieved a B in his GCSE, before Angela became involved he lacked focus and direction and would not have passed French GCSE. Katie McGoohan, Summer 2016
Our twin granddaughters, Lily and Felicity (age 6), have really enjoyed two terms of Fun French at Kidzplay with Angela. They have clearly been enthusiastic to go every week to learn something that is not offered at school yet and they enjoy putting what they learn into practice on holiday with the family. The beauty of learning French through fun at a young age is that the girls are pronouncing the sounds un-self-consciously and we feel that later on, learning the language will seem natural to them. Charles Cross, Summer 2016
Elodie has really enjoyed her time at Kidzplay with Angela, over 2 years now and something she looked forward to every Wednesday. The whole idea is to make it simple and fun and Angela does this very well, along with very affordable rates it creates a very worthwhile exercise. Christian Meyer, Summer 2016
French with Angela is a real hit at our setting. Angela is warm, caring and engaging with the children. In just three short months we have children counting from 1 to 20 and naming different items in French. Many of our parents have expressed their delight in how quickly their children have learnt different phrases and are sharing them with them at home. I highly recommend French with Angela for any nursery setting. Sian Cox, Nursery Manager, Twinkles Knaresborough. January 2016
My son aged 15 had not learned French at school for over 2 years and wanted to take the subject at GCSE. The lessons with Angela were invaluable and provided good support, help & understanding in the subject & were a big boost to help my son achieve a grade A in French this year. Salina Yildiz, Summer 2015
Angela’s tutor service is very good, affordable and when a student & family start to panic over a subject she brings calm and a positive, organised approach to get a result. Caroline Lewis-Jones, Summer 2015
Angela was very helpful in preparing me with some survival French before going to France. She was very friendly and knowledgeable and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor. Catherine Houston, Summer 2015
My children aged 14, 12 and 6 have been learning French with Angela for a number of years in our home and then over Skype when we moved away. They have learnt a lot and enjoyed the lessons. The older two are now being prepared for their IGCSE French exams and are progressing well with her. Angela has done a great job keeping the kids engaged in the lessons. Chi-ann Rajah, Summer 2014
My daughter was struggling with her French GCSE work and was getting herself to the point where she wanted to drop the subject entirely. I called in the help of Angela for lessons at home once a week. She was patient and explained things to my daughter in a way that my daughter could understand. Highly recommend tutor indeed. Sharon Roe, Summer 2014
My daughter has been learning French with Angela for just over 4 years since she was almost 4 years old. Recently she has started learning over Skype to fit in with our time schedules. Angela makes the lessons fun with music and games but with a structured topic which the girls learn without really knowing! Louise Hewson, Summer 2014
Harry age 6 has been attending French at The old foundry in Boroughbridge for the past year and he loves it. The classes are fun and different each week with songs to learn and games to play. Harry loves the reward stickers at the end of each session and has made great progress. Harry asked to learn another language just for fun and has impressed his teachers at school with what he has learnt in the lessons. He is always singing the songs at home and his younger brothers try and join in too. Harry looks forward to going each week and it has been great for his confidence. Sue Broomhead, Summer 2014
Angela has been teaching French to my children for about 1 year. The lessons are constructed in such a way that my children find it fun rather than hard work. Angela is a patient, highly motivated teacher who is encouraging and considerate. My children really enjoy learning a second language and I would highly recommend Angela to anyone who wishes to learn or improve their French. S Wytchard, Summer 2014
